The Social Weather Stations public opinion group has conducted quarterly surveys tracking the net satisfaction rating ("satisfied" rating minus "dissatisfied" rating") of President Arroyo. She began her presidency in the first quarter of 2001 with a net satisfaction rating of +24. Her rating first dipped into the negative in the first quarter of 2003, making Arroyo the only president to achieve a negative net satisfaction rating in SWS opinion polling. Her rating rebounded well into the positive in 2004, in time for the presidential election where she won election to a new six-year term. However, net satisfaction sunk back into negative territory in the fourth quarter of 2004, and has remained negative since, dipping as low as -38 in the second quarter of 2008. Her net satisfaction rating in the fourth quarter of 2008 was -28.[70]

In October 2007, the Pulse Asia survey research firm, for its part, undertook a Special Report on Corruption-Related Issues. Part of the study included Additional Findings on Corruption-Related Issues[1] that found Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is perceived by Filipinos as the "Most Corrupt President in Philippine History."[2] The nationwide survey findings are significant because they show Arroyo is rated worst than Ferdinand Marcos, who declared Martial Law in 1972, and her predecessor, Joseph Estrada, whom she helped deposed in 2001 on charges of corruption. The results on Arroyo are consistent in all three survey tables, showing that as of the study period, Filipinos are definite in their opinion that she is the "Most Corrupt President" and that her administration has met the gravest corruption issues.[71]

Respondents were asked three questions on which president in Philippine history (1) "is the MOST CORRUPT"; (2) "is the LEAST CORRUPT OR NOT CORRUPT"; and (3) has faced "the most intense allegations of corruption." Corazon Aquino is perceived most positively; interestingly, Estrada is ranked the second, and Marcos the third, after Aquino as the "Least Corrupt President in Philippine History."[3] Pulse Asia reports a +/- 3% margin of error at 95% confidence level for the survey.[72]

The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has yet to formalize a definition for binary dwarf planets, and until it passes such a ruling, Charon is classified as a moon of Pluto. Pluto has two known smaller moons, Nix and Hydra, discovered in 2005.

From its discovery in 1930 until 2006, Pluto was considered the Solar System's ninth planet. In the late 20th and early 21st centuries, however, many objects similar to Pluto were discovered in the outer solar system, notably the scattered disc object Eris, which is 27% more massive than Pluto. On August 24, 2006, the IAU defined the term "planet" for the first time. This definition excluded Pluto, which the IAU reclassified as a member of the new category of dwarf planets along with Eris and Ceres: Just as Ceres is part of the asteroid belt without being dominant within it, so Pluto is part of the Kupier belt without being dominant within it. After the reclassification, Pluto was added to the list of minor planets and given the number 134340. A number of scientists continue to hold that Pluto should be classified as a planet.
